Stella Maris in Camogli
Every year, on the morning of the first Sunday in August, a cannon shot announces the departure of the Dragun, the legendary boat that is the pride of the city, which, accompanied by a procession of decorated boats, takes the parish priest to Punta Chippa to celebrate mass at the Stella Maris altar.
Thus begins the STELLA MARIS, a festival whose origins date back to the 1400s, much loved by all the people of Camogli It is a religious feast, very much felt, which also involves the guests who visit the town of Camogli in large numbers during the month of August.
At the end of the procession the best decorated boat is awarded a prize, while in the afternoon children can board the Dragun for a sea ride.
But the highlight of the day comes in the evening, when biodegradable floating candles are distributed to participants and placed in the sea, creating the magical atmosphere that characterises this festival.
At the end, the Dragun returns to centre stage, with a show at sea.
