The Walk of Kisses
Paraggi is an enchanting place. In this small bay nestled in the Mediterranean maquis that surrounds the Monte di Portofino, the sea creeps in with its emerald waters until it laps against a fine sandy beach where beach umbrellas open like flowers, caressed by the morning breeze.
There are people in the luxurious, fashionable bathing establishments in the small village, but the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Not a annoying noise, not a clamour to disturb the peace and quiet of this sunny summer morning.
We arrive walking from Santa Margherita Ligure along the promenade along Provincial Road 227. Just outside the tiny village of Paraggi, we enjoy walking along the Passeggiata dei Baci (Kisses Promenade) that leads to Portofino. A 2 km route, suitable for everyone, which runs along the coastline below from above, immersing itself in the cool of dense vegetation.
The path can be walked in all seasons. Ideal for a romantic stroll, it opens up to charming views of one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Liguria. It is also suitable for an easy hike with children, who can stop in the play areas.
The Tigullio Gulf, in all its majestic beauty, reveals itself more and more as you leave the Bay of Paraggi, following the offshoots of the Portofino Promontory, stretching out into the open sea.
Approaching Portofino, the gorgeous villas overlooking the promontories and coves where the water sparkles crystal clear under the sun’s rays, remind us that we are in one of the most exclusive places in the Mediterranean. Along the path, bougainvillea, oleander and pythosphorus begin to peep out from sunny boundary walls and gates overhanging the sea, the vegetation thins out and the Portofino inlet appears in all its extraordinary beauty
